Vanavond hebben we het over Stijl. Voor elkeen wat, maar toch vooral rock & roll-stijl. Een stijl die geen stijl is en tegelijk alle bestaande stijlen omvat of impliceert. ‘Stijl’ gaat niet alleen over mode en ook niet alleen over wat zichtbaar is: deze aflevering van zéro de conduite gaat net zo goed over bijvoorbeeld muziek en – zijdelings – literatuur en filosofie. In dit programma alleen al komen een vijftal muziekstijlen aan bod. Wat nog iets anders is dan hokjes of genres en sub-genres. Het thema van vanavond is vooral gekozen omdat het morgen Pasen is. Het is lichtvoetig, dansbaar, en soms zelfs vrolijk, zoals veel mensen dat zijn op zo’n mooie feestdag. Qua statement trekt vooral Sly Stone’s ‘Everyday People’ de aandacht: Sometimes I’m right and I can be wrong / My own beliefs are in my song / The butcher, the banker, the drummer and then / Makes no difference what group I’m in / I am everyday people, yeah, yeah. Misschien moeten we toch weer wat meer naar die ‘idealistische hippie stuff’ gaan luisteren. Het wordt tijd om een punt te zetten achter veel nodeloze tragiek. Moedig en met stijl door het leven gaan, goede mensen van goede wil.
