Voor vanavond heb ik als thema ‘de straat’, het ‘leven op straat’, gekozen. Ons bestaan speelt zich daar voor een groot deel af. Sommigen van onze soortgenoten komen weinig buiten; anderen leven er dag en nacht. Maar of je nu binnen of buiten bent: heel vaak denk je aan de straat, droom je van de straat, adem je de straat in. Er zijn uiteraard veel songs over dat thema geschreven. Muzikanten brengen veel tijd door onderweg. Maar daar gaat het nu niet over: het gaat niet over ‘lost highways’ en ‘lonesome roads’. Het gaat over de straat in de stad. In het dorp. In ons hoofd. In ons bestaan. Over eenzaamheid, over ontmoetingen, over liefde, over bedrog, over droefheid, over geluk. Over verwondering. Hier en daar is plaats voor een park, een trottoir, een bank om even uit te rusten.
Ik stel me voor dat het zomer is en dat je daar nu zit en van dit radioprogramma geniet.
