Vorige zaterdag stond mijn radioprogramma in het teken van de rivier. Dat thema zal wel even oud zijn als de literatuur en meer bepaald de poëzie. Hölderlin heeft naar mijn weten de mooiste riviergedichten geschreven. Veel van mijn uitverkoren singer-songwriters hebben op hun beurt hun bekoorlijkste liederen aan datzelfde thema gewijd. De meeste songs in deze lijst zijn tijdloos, zoals het water dat naar de zee stroomt.

Opmerkelijke keuze, Cuyahoga in plaats van het toch meer poëtische Find The River. Verder een wonderschoon lijstje!

Marinus, bedankt voor je reactie. Find The River is bijzonder mooi. Ik koos echter Cuyahoga voor de tekst, dit eerbetoon aan de Indianen en hun mermaals ‘verbrande’ rivier, de Cuyahoga in Ohio. Hier nog eens de tekst:

een indrukwekkende lijst… Helaas ben ik geboren met een onvermogen voor het onthouden van titels en uitvoerders (sommige herken ik wel hoor) en moet ik de meeste muziek horen voor ik ‘Ah ja…) kan zeggen (waarbij meestal een vloed aan herinneringen naar boven komt).
Ik hoop dat je veel plezier hebt gehad zowel aan samenstellen als aan de uitzending zelf.

Green River, ja inderdaad, en zo zijn er nog wel een aantal. Maar mijn programma duurt maar twee uur. Proud Mary mocht er ook wel bij zijn en Where The River Flows uit John Fogerty. En Down By The River, van Neil Young. Et cetera.
