Ik had gisteren al een voorlopige, snel ingescande playlist van Zéro de Conduite, mijn maandelijks radioprogramma op Radio Centraal (zie links voor meer informatie over die radio), gepost. Ik heb er nu wat meer tijd zorg aan besteed, en de songs die zijn weggevallen heb ik uit de lijst geschrapt. Ik heb wil altijd veel meer muziek draaien dan mogelijk is. De tijd is helaas niet rekbaar. Dan moet ik op het einde wat improviseren en met pijn in het hart zo bedachtzaam mogelijk elimineren. Naar mijn gevoel was het een geslaagde aflevering, zij het dat we wat wild gedaan hebben, en dat op onze leeftijd. Maar de muziek was verre van wild. Het eerste gedeelte was een eerbetoon aan de onlangs overleden ‘vader van de Bakersfield sound’, Buck Owens. De rest is wat Nick Lowe ooit ‘pure pop for now people noemde’. Voilà.
